It was the late 1980s when Rev. Alex Camarena and wife Sis. Cathy Camarena were brought to a major crossroad in their lives by the Lord. With a thriving hair salon business in the burgeoning start-up city of San Jose, CA, these successful Christian entrepreneurs were established, flourishing, and had a promising future in Silicon Valley. But this wasn’t all that God had for them; Bro. Camarena couldn’t shake the pull of God he felt calling his family to something more, to a greater level in the Kingdom. It was at this pinnacle of the couple’s career that they decided to answer the call, and in 1989 they left San Jose—and their business—to begin the small home missions church that would become Abundant Life Center.

In pursuing the call of God on their lives, then Pastor Alex and Sis. Cathy Camarena were blessed with great revival and were afforded the opportunity to minister the name of Jesus to many people. Since then, their family has grown to include several daughters-in-law and many wonderful grandchildren who have brought some of the greatest happiness to their lives. A man of the Word, Rev. Alex Camarena also furthered his education during these years and in 2001, graduated with his Bachelors in Theology from Christian Life College in Stockton, CA. In 2014, the church embarked on an exciting and God ordained transition as now Bishop Alex Camarena installed his son, Nathaniel Camarena as the new Pastor. Today, under their leadership, Abundant Life Center continues to flourish.
